Owing the success of our nursery, we now offer a Flexi and Home education group. Some of our nursery parents asked us about what we could offer when the time came for their child to attend school or for those who were choosing to home educate; after much consideration, consultation and research, we realised that there was a place for something alternative to mainstream school. We believe that the practices we have established should be available to support older children and enable them to develop resilience, an interest in nature, and the opportunity to use experiences to expand their levels of creativity and imagination.
Our site provides an excellent backdrop of 10 secure acres to explore, uninterrupted and unrushed with facilitators who are led by the children. Our aim is to enable children to be free thinkers and to direct their own learning, whatever their interests, and we know ( from the evidence we have gathered) that this is the most respectful and exciting way for children to access learning. Our sessions are unstructured, as the children will decide what they’d like to do and working collaboratively will be the foundation of the group. As a small group, the sessions offer the children the opportunity to engage with one another and the adults will always respect this . They will not plan activities for the children but enable them to explore their own interests at their own pace.
The group comprises of a group of children who may be attending school for part of the week and Beatle Woods for the remaining days (Flexi-Schooled) or for children who are home educated. Our facilitators are fantastic qualified teachers ( two of whom are Forest School trained) and they provide a range of open-ended and natural resources for experiential learning opportunities that aim to foster lifelong skills and support a growth mindset and positivity. Our practices are underpinned by and centred on ensuring children are encouraged to develop high levels of emotional health and wellbeing; this is the bedrock of childhood and we ensure children have the time and space to express themselves in a safe and respectful environment.
We have spaces for a maximum of 12 children aged 5 to 12 years and require a minimum of 2 sessions per week for at least one term. We are unable to offer Ad-hoc sessions currently. The group operates on Monday, Tuesday and Thursdays. The cost of each session is £40 and fees are payable half termly in advance. Please contact us for more information.
